Project for Camp NaNoWriMo April 2023

As Camp NaNoWriMo for April 2024 approaches, I am in the planning stages of preparing for that challenge.

In previous years, I have largely worked on Stranger Things fanfiction stories. Some of these were solicited on Tumblr, while others I came up with on my own.

While I plan to write some story ideas of my own this April, I am switching fandoms and turning to the one that I’ve been a part of for the longest (Since I was 3 years old, so we’re talking about 27 years): Star Wars.

My project for Camp NaNoWriMo April this year will be an anthology collection of Star Wars fanfics. I’m calling the collection Star Wars Stories, and it will feature several stories from across the timeline of Star Wars. The anthology series will include stories from the prequel era, the original trilogy era and the sequel trilogy area.

What I’m most excited about in writing and planning these stories is telling a diverse set of stories that follow several different characters during various points in the Star Wars timeline. While some characters may appear in more than one story, each story will focus on one particular character(s) or event(s).

So far, I have ten stories planned out in various forms. For some, I just have the initial idea for the story, with plans to fully outline it between now and April. Other stories are more fully formed in my mind; I just need to fully plot it out on paper to make sure the idea is solid.

Here are the ten ideas I have for stories (so far; more could come later).

  1. Obi-Wan perfects Qui-Gon’s technique to try and teach himself how to counter-attack. He will later use this technique that he perfected to defeat Maul, as depicted in the Star Wars Rebels episode, Twin Suns
  2. Ahsoka says farewell to Obi-Wan and Yoda at Padme’s funeral (Tales of the Jedi depicted Ahsoka being at the funeral; we know Obi-Wan and Yoda were nearby).
  3. Obi-Wan visits Shmi Skywalker’s grave and apologizes for failing Anakin
  4. Qui-Gon’s spirit visits Yoda on Dagobah
  5. Ahsoka takes Luke and Leia to visit Padme’s grave after Return of the Jedi and tells them about their mother
  6. Leia’s vision about her son shown in The Rise of Skywalker and why she abandoned her Jedi training
  7. Lando helps Jannah search for her family
  8. Galen Erso coming to terms with losing his family and plotting his revenge against the Empire
  9. Han getting used to L3 being fused with the Falcon’s navicomputer and adjusting to her attitude/quirks
  10. Palpatine/Sidious taking Maul hostage after defeating him in The Clone Wars season five episode The Lawless, bringing him to Dooku, who tortures Maul in revenge of Qui-Gon’s death

As stated, these ideas are in various stages of development. I’ll be sitting down to plan out each one (and potential other ideas, too) and map them out between now and April. I have yet to pick a writing goal for April’s challenge, but I’m hoping with so many ideas to do a fairly high word count.
