The Skywalker Saga may have ended almost one year ago, but that doesn’t mean the story of Star Wars is finished.
In the waning months of 2020 and the early months of 2021, the Star Wars story will continue to grow, with new releases on Disney+, on video game consoles and a new book series.
Here’s a look at some of what’s coming soon in the Star Wars universe.
The Mandalorian, Season 2

The popular live action series will return to Disney+ with a second season beginning on Oct. 30. Like the first season, episodes will be released once a week (likely on Fridays since the first episode premieres on a Friday.
Both the character The Mandalorian and the series’ breakout star The Child (also known as Baby Yoda) were on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, which detailed heavily information about what to expect in season two and talks about the popularity explosion of The Child.

“Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy,” said Dave Filoni, executive producer of The Mandalorian.
Several stars are rumored to join the cast of season two, including Timothy Olyphant (Mickey in Scream 2), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese in The Terminator) in undisclosed roles, with Katee Sackhoff as a live action version of the character Bo-Katan Kryze and Temuera Morrison returning from the prequels, who will likely play either a clone trooper or (more excitedly) Boba Fett. There are also rumors of Rosario Dawson joining the cast as Ahsoka Tano, from The Clone Wars and Rebels.
“Some of them are true, some are not true,” said star Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune in the show.
A Holiday Special…in LEGO form
The Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978 is notorious for being one of the most atrocious releases associated with the franchise. It can be summed up as a coke-fueled fantasy starring several famous names who wished to be associated with Star Wars, with brief appearances by the main cast of the first film.
Now, 42 years later, maybe Disney can have a holiday special that is much more watchable than the first one.
In November, The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will premiere on Nov. 17 on Disney+. The special will reunite Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and our favorite droids as they celebrate Life Day, which was introduced in the original holiday special.
Tis the season for a festive holiday celebration of the entire Star Wars saga…

According to starwars.com, this special is set after The Rise of Skywalker and Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she “embarks on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force.”
Also according to starwars.com, Rey will be hurled into a cross-timeline adventure at a mysterious Jedi Temple and will cross paths with many familiar faces, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and more iconic heroes and villains.
Another LEGO Star Wars video game
The LEGO Star Wars video games of the early 2000s set off a franchise of video games in LEGO style, including games for Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and Batman.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, set for release in early 2021, looks to be similar to the LEGO Star Wars games of the past, and will feature iconic moments from all nine films of the Skywalker Saga.

New to LEGO Star Wars games (sans Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is that the characters of this game actually speak. The humor of the first games relied on the characters not speaking and instead gesturing non-verbally. The trailer of the game seems to indicate much of the dialogue will be humorous.
Master Yoda returns
In January 2021, the Star Wars publishing project Star Wars: The High Republic is due to start publishing its stories. One prominent character is set to return: Jedi Master Yoda.

Yoda himself told Luke in The Empire Strikes Back that he has trained Jedi for 800 years, so it only makes sense for the grand master to appear in the High Republic series, which is set approximately 200 years before The Phantom Menace.
According to starwars.com, Yoda will feature prominently in Daniel Jose Older’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic. The Jedi Master, however, will not be quite the same character fans have grown accustomed to over the years.
“While he’s already a respected member of the Jedi Council at this point, we meet Yoda in IDW’s The High Republic Adventures series doing what he loves best: looking out for the young folks — in this case, a group of Padawans traveling around the galaxy to learn the ways of the Jedi with a hands-on approach,” Older said. “The Force study abroad program, basically.”
